Rewrite Your Story: The Power of Positive Thinking

Rewrite Your Story: The Power of Positive Thinking

At Pirate Anne, we believe a resilient woman is not defined by what others call her — she defines herself.

When you walk confidently through life, choosing kindness, courage, and authenticity, you may find yourself the target of labels meant to shrink you.

“She’s a pick me.”

No, love — you’re a leader. You see opportunities where others see obstacles. You stand up, you raise your hand, you say yes. That’s not desperation — that’s leadership.

“She’s so weird.”

No — you’re authentic. You don’t float with the tide just because everyone else does. You chart your own course, and that takes strength.

“She’s just a kiss ass.”

No — you’re a builder. You lift others up, you celebrate their wins, you create a ripple of encouragement. That doesn’t make you less — it makes you more.

Flip the Script With CBT

These labels sting because they tap into our deepest fears: that we’re not enough, or that we’re too much. That’s where the magic of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) comes in.

CBT teaches us that our thoughts shape our feelings — and our feelings shape our actions.

When someone throws a label at you, you have a choice: accept it, or reframe it.

Here’s how:

Pause. Notice the thought that pops up when you hear the label.

Question it. Is it true? Or is it just someone else’s insecurity?

Replace it. Choose a thought that’s empowering and more accurate.

For example:

“I’m just a pick me…” → “No. I’m brave enough to show up and lead.”

“I’m weird…” → “No. I’m unique, and that’s my power.”

“I’m a kiss ass…” → “No. I’m a woman who builds bridges and encourages others.”

Choose Your Narrative

The Pirate Anne woman knows: storms will come, but she commands her ship. She sets her sails with intention, and she refuses to let someone else’s words sink her.

You are not what they call you. You are what you believe about yourself.

So the next time someone tries to write your story for you, take the pen back. Reframe the words. Rewrite the narrative.

After all — leaders, trailblazers, and builders have always been misunderstood. But they’re also the ones who change the world.

  Journal Prompt:

What labels have you carried that don’t belong to you? How can you reframe them into words of strength? Write them down and keep them close — you’ll need them when the seas get rough.

Keep shining, Pirate Anne crew — your light is not too bright. It’s a beacon.
